Replatformed Sunnen’s B2B eCommerce solution from Optimizely to Shopify B2B, focusing on a deep understanding of their business needs and customer complexities.

In-depth discovery grounded in decades of experience

The engagement began with a comprehensive, two-month discovery phase focused on understanding every aspect of the client’s B2B business model—a process grounded in our expertise and years of experience delivering complex ecommerce solutions. We conducted an in-depth review of their business and technical requirements, including pricing structures, product data, customer hierarchies, shipping processes, and order flows, to define the data needed and design solutions aligned with Shopify’s evolving B2B framework.

Shopify-Oracle ERP integration with optimal data mapping

Throughout this phase, we maintained clear, consistent communication with the client and their Oracle integration team, collaboratively determining optimal data mapping, defining the actions and mutations required for ongoing updates, and supporting all Shopify-related integration touchpoints. Building on this foundation, we designed and developed a modern public-facing website alongside a password-protected B2B portal, implementing role-based access to restrict specific data and features for non–B2B users.

Custom frontend solutions for a bespoke shopping experience

To ensure a smooth transition, we mapped and bulk-imported historical data for products, companies, locations, customers, and orders. We then delivered highly customized front-end solutions—including a quick order form with bespoke availability logic and quantity rules, metafield-driven availability, custom stock indicators, and checkout and account extensions for managing addresses and POs—all shaped through ongoing dialogue and feedback with the client. Throughout the build, we navigated the evolving complexities of the Shopify B2B system, guiding the client’s team through full-system QA across both the front-end and the Shopify–Oracle integrations. We’re excited to foster a long-term partnership with Sunnen to be a trusted, collaborative extension of their internal team.
